In 2015, the Denver resident became a member of the dance team for the Denver Outlaws lacrosse team.
She enjoyed knowing that the girls on her squad and their management supported her.
She shared the award along with Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, a lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Windey became the first female to ever receive the award, usually given only to NFL players.
